Our commitment to the environment
One of the first things we endeavoured at Château du Jonquier, was to make it 'green'. We shut down the ancient oil heating, which breathed fire in its cellars, and use 100% green electricity throughout the house.
Beautiful nature is all around us. A walk in our enchanted forest - dominated by ancient oaks, cypresses and giant plane trees - is the most relaxing and refreshing experience. It borders on the river Auzon - a source of the mighty Rhône river! - and the mythical Mt Ventoux rises straight behind the Château.
Our park is a haven for local wildlife: our natural spring feeds our ponds, which teem with crayfish and house thieving, chubby Nutrias. Listen to the dawn-chorus of birds in early spring, before the cicadas take over - en force! Charles, our resident owl (named as its ears and hair bear a more than passing resemblance to the King of England) is the ruler of the night. Its skies are salted with stars: there is no light-pollution at this part of the Provence.
At Château du Jonquier we are blessed with a lot of fresh water (pool, streams and ponds). This is unusual in Provence. We urge guests to not leave children unattended as we cannot accept responsibility for their safe-keeping.
